Ridges, cliffs and rock outcroppings define Pound Ridge. We design and engineer new homes, additions and renovations that work with that land.
Pound Ridge is a town of about 23 square miles along the Connecticut border, with the historic hamlet of Pound Ridge at its center and Scotts Corners as its business district. In the 1930s Hiram Halle restored many older buildings to draw artists, and the Pound Ridge Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1985, includes many of them. Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the Trinity Lake and Siscowit reservoirs and sprawling estates fill the rest of the town.
High ridges, steep cliffs and rock make every site different. New homes and additions here depend on foundations, grading and drainage designed for the specific property, which our engineers handle alongside the architecture.

In New York, building permits are issued by the town, village or city building department under the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, and zoning comes first. When a design needs relief from a setback, coverage or height limit, it goes to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and many villages and towns also require Architectural Review Board or Planning Board approval for exterior changes.
Ledge rock and steep grades affect where a house or addition can sit and what it costs. We study the topography and site early and design footings and retaining walls for actual conditions.
For homes in the historic district, we design new work that respects the original buildings and their setting.
However your project is approved, we deliver signed and sealed drawings to you, support you and your contractor through the permit submission and answer the building department's review comments in house. Read how a project moves from consultation to close out on our process page.
